Most tabi socks have clasps called "kohaze" attached to the ankle portion, but until around the mid-Meiji period, "kohaze" were not widely used. Instead, a string was attached to the top of the tabi socks and wrapped around the leg to secure it so that it would not come off. But due to the wide distribution of "kohaze," tabi socks with strings have become rare today.

Compared to the type of tabi socks with kohaze, the overall shape is looser, open from the middle of the instep, and can be adjusted freely. Tying the laces is also very easy once you try it. Now, tabi socks with laces are experiencing a comeback!

The fabric is 100% indigo-dyed cotton using the traditional dyeing method. You can enjoy the unique fading of the indigo dye as you use and wash them repeatedly. The longer you use these tabi socks for everyday wear, the more you will grow attached to them, and they will remind you of the Edo period.

【The use of indigo-dyed products】
Since these are indigo-dyed products, please wash them before wearing them for the first time to avoid color transfer. When washing, please wash them alone.

【How to thread the string】
The strings attached to the inside of the foot pass through the inside of the tabi socks along the ankle, and the string is pulled out through a cutout in the back and tied with the other string at the ankle.

 【How to choose the size】
Although there are individual differences, please consider the actual size from the toe (the longest part) to the heel + about 5mm as a guide. After washing, there is a possibility of shrinkage in the vertical direction through stages: about 5mm after the 4th or 5th washing, and up to about 7mm after the 10th washing, depending on how the item is dried.
