How to Care for Samue and Jinbei [ Part1 ]

Fortunately, we have a lot of opportunities to interact with our customers through our online store, and along with the heart-warming compliments, we have also been receiving many questions about how to care for our samue and jinbei. So, I would like to answer them in this blog. Hopefully, you will find the information helpful in caring for your items.

In the first blog, I would like to show you the proper ways to wash the items, and in the second blog, I will explain the precautions to take from washing to drying.

Now, let's start with the question about how to wash them properly.

I would like to show you an example of one of Wasuian's standard items, Kasuri Tsumugi Samue. This samue, available in a total of 17 beautiful colors and a wide range of sizes from SS to LL, is popular as the first piece of samue and as a gift for any occasion.

Incidentally, machine-washable items use fabrics with a dyeing method called "reactive dyeing," which does not fade with ordinary detergents, so you can use ordinary neutral detergent. However, there are a few things you need to pay attention to when washing. But now, let’s focus on washable and non-washable items. Please don’t worry. I will show you the washing tips later.

Let's take a look at them starting with (1) Items dyed with indigo and botanical dyes

(1) Items dyed with indigo dye and botanical dye will fade in color. This change leads to the enjoyment unique to naturally dyed products, which is to "nurture the garment and bring out its character," but it is a serious problem if the colors transfer to other laundry or the washing machine itself. Please wash by hand in cold water, and wash separately from other clothing.

(2) The silk materials cannot be washed in water due to the characteristics of the fabric. Wetting it with water may cause stains, wrinkles, or shrinkage, so please have it dry-cleaned.

(3) We recommend hand washing or dry cleaning for the items with a polyester lining. If washed in a washing machine, the smooth and shiny lining will become wrinkled. In addition, polyester is a heat-sensitive material and is difficult to iron, so we do not recommend ironing, either.
